Project overview
When existing pipelines weren’t providing enough chilled and heating water to two buildings at Fort Huachuca, the Army installation hired Pueblo Mechanical to correct the pipeline capacity deficiencies. The contractor reached out to Ferguson mechanical solutions for hot tap materials, tooling, training and field support to ensure successful NUPI NIRON hot tap installation.

Challenge:
The existing chilled water and heating water systems were live and could not be shut down and drained to allow for four traditional tie-ins—and all work had to be completed in just one day.
Solution:
Use the NUPI hot tap system to tap existing pressurized pipelines, cutting the training and hot tap times to less than half of that required by the other brand’s hot tap method.

Method
Ferguson provided hot tap training for Pueblo Mechanical’s installation crew as well as materials, tooling and field support to install four hot taps onto existing pipelines, allowing for future branch lines for the Fort Huachuca buildings.
